KURARAY POVAL FILM

KURARAY POVAL FILM is a film produced by Kuraray, using its world-renowned KURARAY POVAL™ as the raw material. From resin production to film manufacturing, the entire process is integrated within Kuraray.
Since the start of commercial production in 1961, KURARAY POVAL FILM has been used in a wide range of fields, such as raw materials for polarizer in LCD displays and release films for FRP molding.
Water-soluble films are primarily used for SUD(Single Unit Dose) detergent packaging. Leveraging their ability to dissolve in water, they are also expected to open up new and innovative applications.

KURARAY POVAL™

KURARAY POVAL™ (chemical name: polyvinyl alcohol) is a synthetic resin that Kuraray industrialized in 1958 as a raw material for PVA fiber.

It is water soluble and solubility can be controlled by adjusting the degree of saponification. In addition, it has excellent properties such as film-forming, adhesion, emulsification, oil resistance, and chemical resistance.

It is mainly used in a wide range of fields, including raw materials for PVA fiber and poval film, fiber processing agents, adhesives, and polymerization stabilizers for vinyl chloride resin.

Grades of Poval Film (PVA film, PVOH film)

KURARAY POVAL FILM is broadly divided into two types:

- Low-Solubility Poval Film (PVA film, PVOH film)

optical-use poval film, industrial-use poval film

Raw Material

  • Fully saponified Poval

Applications

  • Polarizer and polarized sunglasses film
  • Textile packaging film
  • Release film for artificial marbel molding
  • Film for CFRP molding
  • Moisture-regulating and airtight sheet film

- Water-Soluble Poval Film (PVA film, PVOH film)

Water-soluble Poval film

Raw Material

  • Partially saponified Poval
  • Some grades use modified Poval

Applications

  • Unit-packaging film of detergents
  • Unit-packaging film of chemicals
  • Unit-packaging film of agrochemicals
  • Seed tape film
  • Embroidery base film
  • Water-soluble substrate
